19 years and counting...

This year Dawn & I will celebrate our 19th year of wedded bliss - and thanks to our kind friends Dave & Sharon Peeters referring us, we will be flying to Hawaii and staying at the Westin Ka'anapali Ocean Resort Villas and we are really excited. Our anniversary is on August 19, but the trip isn't until October - from what we have been told that is the best time to go.

We are starting our top 10 list of things we HAVE to do - so far we have the following:

  1. Attend a Luau at Old Lahaina
  2. Sail with Trilogy "Ka'anapali snorkel sail"
  3. Eat at "Cheeseburger in Paradise"
  4. Dive/Snorkel at Black Rock "Pu'u Keka'a"
  5. Swim under a waterfall - but we don't know where...
Well, this is the list so far - we are open for suggestions!

This is our first trip to Hawaii and we are really excited.

Luau at the ROYAL Lahaina, not Old.

Eat at The Mixed Plate.

Bike down Haleakala.

Drive the road to Hana.

Eat Macadamia Nut Pancakes at the Patio.

Hey - we are staying at this place when we are in Maui the end of the July - for part of the time. How random! We'll let you know of anything we would add to the list - but a lot of our things are the same! Happy Anniversary!

Rick/Dawn: If you do drive to Hana, you'll encounter plenty of waterfalls to swim under. Maui also has a great aquarium that you can visit as well. You can also take a snorkel trip just off the coast of Maui to Molokini (I think that is it). It is the top of a volcano (only 1/2 the crescent is showing) and it is an underwater preserve. Just a few suggestions. We like Maui, but if you ever get a chance to go the the Big Island, that is our favorite (we try to go there every year for X-mas). Have a great time, and Happy Anniversary. I wish I had a suggestion but I've yet to make it to Hawaii - but I'm sure you'll enjoy whatever you end up doing. Have fun!! And 19 years...that's so wonderful!!

It was great meeting you and Dawn last night and your kids too. I just started reading your blog not too long ago, but it's nice to have a real person behind it now.

On "Little People" they took surfing lessons and also zip line tours. It looked fun, but I haven't tried it. You definitely need to eat those macadamia nut pancakes, but it is called "The Gazebo" not the Patio. Ask Alvin for directions. Also, after breakfast, so swim with the sea turtles in the bay next to that restaurant. That was really cool. Michelle said that she almost died there, so again, ask Alvin or Tim for specific directions. I didn't have any problems.
