I just received our "Backstage Pass" magazine from Disney and was I surprised!
Starting tonight Sleeping Beauty's Castle will be transformed to "Sleeping Beauty's Winter Castle".
Disney has officially kicked off the Christmas season with all the holiday trimmings.
Last night at 9:30 sharp, while Dawn & I were relaxing, what sounded like a distant war zone began. It seems that Disneyland was 'practicing' for the this years "Holiday Magic" fireworks spectacular. It was much louder than the previous "Remember Dreams Come True" fireworks - MUCH louder and longer.
The Backstage Pass magazine announced a new piece to the Holiday Magic. You can read Disney's official press release here.
Over a 3 Act story, Sleeping Beauty's castle will go from a 'lightly dusted' castle to a fully engulfed snow covered castle including sparkling icicles! Throughout the night the magic begins with a child's voice being heard, Disney calls it the "When you wish" twilight moment, rushing wind and a mother telling her child "...in order for your wishes to come true, you must believe." In response to her instructions snow flurries flutter through the twilight sky as the Castle begins to sparkle as if sprinkled with fresh snowfall.
This happens again during act 2 - or the "When you Dream" moment. the same child's voice once again is heard to say, "I'm wishing for a white Christmas... with lots of snow...and icicles... and magic!. The mother's voice keeps encouraging the child with "just keep believing... and you may be surprised". To everyone's delight, the child's dream begins to come true and snow falls again making the Castle even more enchanting.
Act 3, the "When you believe" moment follows the fireworks and the entire Castle transforms complete with sparking icicles!
I CAN'T WAIT TO SEE THIS! I am so stinkin' excited to see how Disney will pull this off.
Here is what the castle looks like during the day. Photos are from
mouseplanet - as I haven't been there to see it yet - unfortunately I had to work today.
(BTW - I don't like Blogger very much, getting the line spacing and photo placement is VERY difficult! Sorry if it looks/reads poorly.)
